Mentha oil prices declined by 0.44 per cent to Rs 1,001.40 per kg in futures trading today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid fall in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

Besides, adequate stock positions in the physical market on higher supplies from producing belts put pressure on mentha oil prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in April was trading down by Rs 4.40, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 1,001.40 per kg in a business turnover of 141 lots.

The oil for delivery in May shed Rs 2.30, or 0.22 per cent to Rs 1,021.30 per kg in 399 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in mentha oil futures to profit-booking by speculators at existing higher levels and fall in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
