Mentha oil remains weak on sluggish spot demand, sheds 0.23%

Mentha oil prices fell further by 0.23 per cent to Rs 984.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions, tracking a weak trend at spot market on sluggish demand from consuming industries.

Besides, sufficient stocks in the physical markets on higher supplies from producing regions put pressure on prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in April fell Rs 2.30 or 0.23 per cent to Rs 984.80 per kg in business turnover of 54 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in May shed 80 paise or 0.08 per cent to Rs 1,003.50 per kg in 270 lots.

Analysts said besides subdued demand from consuming industries in the spot market, higher supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade.
