The union territory of Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, the MeT department said.
Ambala in Haryana recorded a high of 38.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature at both Hisar and Karnal settled at 38.4 degree Celsius, four notches below normal.
In Punjab, Amritsar's high was 39 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperatures of Ludhiana and Patiala were 37.4 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius respectively.
The MeT department has forecast rains or thundershowers at isolated places of the two states in the next 24 hours.
