Mercury dips in Himachal, Keylong shivers at 0.6 degree C

With the winter season almost knocking at the door, the hill state of Himachal Pradesh witnessed minimum temperatures plummeting in tribal areas andhigher hills, with Keylong in tribal region of Lahaul and Spiti district shivering at0.6 degree Celsius.
Joining Keylong in falling mercury levels, Kalpa town in adjoining Kinnaur district recorded a minimum temperature at3.4 degrees Celsius and the key tourist resort of Manali recorded a low of 4.6 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperatures dipped to 8.5 degrees Celsius at Una and Bhuntar, 9.0 degrees Celsius at Solan, 9.8 degrees Celsius at Shimla, 10.0 degrees Celsius at Palampur, 10.4 degrees Celsius at Sundernagar, 14.9 degrees Celsius atNahan and 15.2 degrees Celsius at Dharamsala, marginally below normal.
There was no significant change inmaximum temperatures though which remained close to normal.
Una was hottest in the region with a high of 33.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar at 29.2 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar, Solan and Una at 28 degrees Celsius.
Dharamsala recorded a maximum of 25.8 degrees Celsius and Palampur remained at 24 degrees Celsius, while Keylong and Kalpa in the tribal belt recorded a high of 15.5 degrees and 19.2 degrees Celsius respectively.
The region had a dry day but the local MeT office has predicted rains, snow or thunderstorms at many places in lower, mid and higher hills over next four days from tomorrow.
