The local MeT office has predicted rain/thundershowers and snow at isolated places in mid and higher hills over the next six days, adding to the anxiety of farmers, already reeling under the impact of untimely rains during March and April.
Rain is considered harmful for wheat crop which is ready for harvesting and cultivation of peas, vegetable and stone fruits in mid and higher hills.
Una in the Shivalik foothills recorded a maximum temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius against 37.6 degrees yesterday. Nahan recorded a high of 30.8 degrees, followed by Sundernagar 30.2, Bhunter 29.6, Dharamsala 26.8, Solan 25.4, Manali 22.2, Kalpa 21.0 and Shimla 20.7 degrees Celsius.
State capital Shimla was lashed by strong winds accompanied with intermittent showers and the sky remained overcast throughout the day.
Minimum temperatures dropped by two to three degrees in many areas and Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur districts recorded lows of 2.4 and 5.0 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Manali recorded a minimum temperature of 6.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Bhuntar 11.0, Chamba 12.0, Shimla 12.8, Solan 13.4, Dharamsala 14.2, Sundernagar 14.5, Una 18.1 and Nahan 17.0 degrees Celsius.
