Mercury goes up in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh had a maximum of 34 deg C with over 80 per cent humidity level, the local Met office said.

In Punjab, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala had a highs of 37.4 deg C, 35 deg C and 36.4 deg C, up by 3 notches above normal.

In Haryana, Ambala and Bhiwani recorded maximum at 36.1 deg C and 38.2 deg C while Hisar and Rohtak had highs of 36.2 deg C and 38.5 deg C respectively.

Met office has forecast that light rains are likely to occur at few places in both the states.
