Mercury inches up on sultry day in national capital

Hot and sultry conditions persisted in the national capital today as the mercury climbed two degrees above normal and no rainfall was recorded in the city.
The day temperature settled at 36 degrees Celsius, which was two notches above normal, while the minimum was recorded at 27.5 degrees, one notch above the normal, MeT officials said.
Humidity in air oscillated between 60 and 85 per cent.
The weatherman has predicted generally cloudy skies with the likelihood of light rainfall and thundershowers in some areas.
Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 36 and 27 degrees, respectively.
