Mercury level rises in Odisha, sunstroke toll at 15

Heat-wave condition resurfaced in Odisha today with temperature in 10 different places crossing 40 degree Celsius mark even as the death toll in sunstroke remain static at 15, official sources said.
While highest temperature of 43 degree Celsius was recorded at Sonepur, the mercury level touched 42.2 degree C at Bhubaneswar followed by 42 degree C at Talcher.
The places which recorded temperature above 40 degree C were: Titlagarh (41.2), Bhawanipatna (41.5), Sambalpur (41.4), Chandbali (41.6), Angul (40.7), Jharsuguda (40.6) and Cuttack (40.5).
According to special relief commissioner's office, three sun stroke deaths have been confirmed in Mayurbhanj district, two deaths each were reported from Keonjhar and Balangir district.
One each was reported from Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Khurda, they said.
