Mercury rises across northern India

A moderate rise in temperatures was registered across northern plains today as weather started taking a pleasant turn giving respite from the cold spell.
In national capital both the maximum and minimum settled four notches above the season's average.
Maximum temperature was recorded at 28.3 degrees Celsius while the minimum was recorded 15.2 degrees, said MeT officials. Humidity in air oscillated between 91 and 51 per cent.
In most parts of Punjab and Haryana, the minimum temperatures hovered above normal level.
In Chandigarh, the joint capital of the two states, the minimum temperature hovered three notches above normal at 12.2 degrees Celsius.
Amritsar recorded a low of 9.4 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal. In Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 14.1 degrees Celsius, up five degrees from normal.

Srinagar and most other parts of Kashmir witnessed dry weather after five days of intermittent rains and snowfall, with the minimum temperature across the division, including Ladakh region, appreciating.
Gulmarg and Kupwara received fresh rains today, while other parts of the Valley remained dry.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of 3.9 degrees Celsius - up by 3.5 degrees from the previous night.
The minimum temperature in Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir, settled at minus 2 degrees Celsius - up by a degree from minus 3 degrees yesterday. The resort received 9.8 mm of rainfall.
The mercury in Pahalgam hill resort settled at a low of 0.2 deg C.
The day temperatures also rose by few notches in most parts of Himachal Pradesh as the region had a clear day.
The hills had another spell of moderate snowfall.
The high altitude tribal areas and other mountain passes received 20 cm to 40 cm of snow while Kalpa and Khadrala received 34 cm and 7 cm of fresh snow respectively.
The minimum temperatures rose marginally and Kalpa was coldest with a low of minus 7.0 degree, while Manali recorded minimum temperature at minus 2.0 degree and Shimla 5.7 deg.
