Mercury rises in Himachal as weather remains dry in most parts

Minimum and maximum temperatures rose by a few notches in most parts of Himachal Pradesh as the weather remained dry even as the MeT office has forecast heavy rains in mid and lower hills for three days starting tomorrow.
The maximum and minimum temperatures soared to 39 and 26.8 degrees Celsius respectively at Una in the Shivalik foothills.
Bhuntar recorded a high of 35 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar (34.7), Nahan (30.8), Solan (29), Dharamsala (28.6), Manali (27.6), Kalpa (25) and Shimla (24.2 degrees Celsius).
The minimum temperatures also rose by one or two degrees and barringKalpa, which recorded a low of 12.4 degrees Celsius, stayed above normal at all other places.
Manali, Keylong and Dharamsala recorded minimum temperatures of 15.4, 15.6 and 16.2 degrees Celsius respectively, followed by Shimla (17.5), Palampur (20), Bhuntar (20.4), Solan (21), Nahan (22.3), Sundernagar (23) degree and Una (26.8 degrees Celsius).
Scattered rains occurred at some places in the state with Mashobra near Shimla recording 13 mm rains, followed by Shimla (11), Arki (8), Jubbarhatti (6) and Bijahi and Pandoh (5 mm each).
The rain deficit during the current monsoon season, from June 1 to August 4, has increased to 27 per cent as the region witnessed an average rainfall of 331.4 mm as against the normal of 456.5 mm.
