Mercury settles above 40.3

It was a hot day in the national capital as the maximum temperature today again crossed the 40 degree mark to settle at 40.3 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 21.2 degrees, three notches below the season's average, said a Met department official.
At Palam, the maximum temperature was registered at 42.2 degrees Celsius today.
The humidity level in air oscillated between 55 per cent and 17 per cent.
The Met office has projected possible thunderstorm or duststorm at the night and overcast conditions for tomorrow.
"Thunderstorm or dust storm is likely to occur in some areas towards night. The skies will be partly cloudy tomorrow. Dust haze is very likely to occur towards morning and evening.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 40 and 21 degrees," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature had settled at 39 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was recorded at 20.4 degrees Celsius.
