Mercury stays near-normal in HP

Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district was the hottest place in the state recording a maximum temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius.

Una in Shivalik hills registered a high of 40 degrees followed by Nahan 36 degrees and Solan 33, one or two notches below normal, the weather office said.

The maximum in Shimla, which received two mm of rains, settled at 27.4 degrees while scenic Manali in Kullu district recorded a low of 10.4 degrees.

Keylong and Kalpa in tribal districts of Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur recorded lows of 7.6 and 6.6 degrees Celsius respectively.

Kheri, the wettest place in the region, received 20 mm of rains, Dalhousie five mm, Banjar four mm, Chamba three mm and Palampur two mm.
