Meru cabs in city

On a day when commuters had a
hard time with transport workers opting for a rally protesting the state government's alleged apathy to improve the working condition, the city saw the launch of another taxi service promising a hassle-free and safe journey.
With a fleet of 100 cars Meru cabs would launch its MeruFlexi operating on the city roads from midnight tonight, Meru Group CEO Siddhartha Pahwa said at the launch of the service here today.
Kolkata is the 11th city in the country after Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Pune and Surat to launch the service, he said.
Incidentally, Meru's launch is the third taxi service launched in the city after Uber, Bookmycab.Com since last month.
With a rate of Rs 20 per km for point to point service, MeruFlexi would be available through Meru Mobile App, call centre and Meru website, Pahwa said adding that the AC cabs include Tata Manza, Toyota Etios and Maruti Dzire.

"Kolkata has a huge potential and lot of opportunity and we will soon spread our wings here and add another 1000 cars in next nine to 12 months time," he stated.
Meru, he said has a fleet of 10,000 cabs, 14,000 drivers with four million passengers throughout the country.
The compnay also promised well groomed, courteous and knowledeable drivers to ensure comfortable services to its customers.
"We choose drivers very selectively and train them at Meru academy to ensure smooth journey for the riders," Pahwa said.
