Rock band Metallica are set to give the US national anthem a heavy metal makeover when they kick off the first home game of the season for a Californian baseball team in May. The band will take over the AT&T Park stadium in San Francisco, California on May 13 when home team the San Fransisco Giants take on their rivals the Los Angeles Dodgers. The rockers will play America's national song The Star-Spangled Banner and one member of the legendary group will throw the first pitch, reported Examiner online. Special tickets for the game will be sold with a limited edition Metallica/Giants hat, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Bill Graham Foundation, which gives grants to music, the arts, and education. "We're psyched to be teaming up with the World Series champs (sic) for the first ever Metallica Night at AT&T Park in San Francisco on Friday, May 3," a statement posted on the band's official website read. "When the Giants take on their arch-rivals the Los Angeles Dodgers, we'll be on hand that night to kick off the game with the national anthem and first pitch, joining the orange and black fanatics with Metallica vibes and shenanigans throughout the evening to cheer on the team for the first home Dodger game of the season."
