The West Bengal government and the Metro Railway authorities Friday agreed to cooperate with each other to expedite all ongoing metro projects in the state.

While the state government assured of providing the Metro Railway authority with adequate land for its various ongoing projects, the Metro authority assured of completing all its ongoing projects by 2022.

The decisions were taken in meeting at the state secretariat Nabanna, which was attended, among others, by the state Chief Secretary Moloy De, Home Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay, senior police officials, and top officials of the Metro Railway authority.

The state secretariat sources said that the meeting also reviewed the progress of all ongoing metro railway projects and discussed the land issues that stood as barrier before smooth progress of some of them.

Even as the ongoing Joka-BBD Bagh Metro received clearance from the Centre for its full stretch, the Metro Railway authority agreed some disputes regarding land still remained unresolved between Majerhat and BBD Bagh.

Also the Garia-Airport metro work was getting delayed because of land problems near Chingrighata area, the Metro authority said.
