The veterans will undertake tasks to facilitate customer services. They will be stationed at platforms, fare collection gates and ticketing areas for this purpose, the Metro said.
Broadly, they will manage crowd, ensure smooth deboarding and boarding, assist differently-abled passengers, be on look out for suspicious commuters, prevent suicide attempts and keep entry/exits free from encroachment by vendors, vehicles, beggars, a Metro spokesperson said.
Their services will be on a trial basis for one year and may be extended at other major stations based upon performance feedback, the official said.
