The Centre has advised the Chandigarh Union Territory administration to fill up its civil posts in the ratio of 60:40 from the Punjab and Haryana governments.
The Home Ministry has also kept in abeyance its order merging the posts of DSPs of Chandigarh Police with the combined police service of Delhi and other UTs, the DANIPS.
In a statement, the Union Home Ministry said the UT Chandigarh administration has been advised that in filling up civil posts, the ratio of 60:40 as may be used between Punjab and Haryana, wherever it is being followed conventionally.
There are 17 sanctioned posts of state civil services in the Chandigarh administration of which 10 are filled by the officers belonging to the Punjab government and seven from the Haryana government on deputation.
"The ration (of 60:40) is being respected for taking officers from Haryana and Punjab civil services," Adviser to the Chandigarh Administrator, Parimal Rai, told PTI.
