The Home Ministry is studying the report of M P Bezbaruah committee, set up to look into concerns of people from the Northeast living in different parts of the country, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said today.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament House, Rijiju said that it was disturbing that a Manipuri man was killed in Delhi.
"Police have taken immediate action and arrested three persons in this connection. Two other persons are being chased," he added.
A 29-year-old Manipuri man was allegedly beaten to death by a group of five men in a suspected case of road rage in South Delhi's Kotla Mubarakpur area in the wee hours yesterday.
Asked about the efforts for inducting people from the Northeast into the police force in the national capital, the Minister said that they were looking into the policy in this regard.
Queried about reports on some Northeastern states not being able to depute their police personnel in Delhi, he said that the Bezbaruah committee report is being studied.
"We are looking into the implementable suggestions of the report," he added.
The committee, constituted under the chairmanship of M P Bezbaruah, a retired IAS officer, in February 2014, has submitted its reported to the Union Home Ministry.
