MHA to expand social media outreach

The Home Ministry and the paramilitary forces are all set to expand their social media outreach and increase interaction with public besides strengthening grievance redressal mechanism.
The issue was discussed threadbare at a meeting attended by officials of the home ministry and the paramilitary forces handling social media accounts and representatives of Twitter and Facebook here today.
The paramilitary includes Assam Rifles (AR), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Security Guard (NSG) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
The aim of the initiative is to increase the presence of the ministry and the paramilitary forces on social media, besides responding to queries and resolving grievances, official sources said.
The authorities concerned will be tasked with resolving problems and difficulties of people on a real-time basis.
At present, the Home Ministry has nearly 10 Twitter handles active, including two belonging to Home Minister Rajnath Singh and one each belonging to Union Ministers of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and Hansraj Ahir.
