MIAL to host 4th International Flower Show on Jan 21-22

Over 100 varieties of flowers and plants would be exhibited at the two-day 4th International Flower show organised by Mumbai International Airport Ltd starting here from tomorrow.
The exhibition will be hosted by GVK MIAL, the company that administers the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, in association with the Mumbai Rose Society at the MIAL residential colony ground.
Curated by GVK botanical garden, the exhibition will be spread across an area of 3,000 sq ft for learning, interaction and spreading awareness about nature conservation, plantation & gardening, a release said here today.
This International Flower Show, a first by any Indian airport, will include more than 40 varieties of flowers, 30 varieties of medicinal plants, 25 varieties of ornamental plants, 30 varieties of bonsai and other flora and plant varieties brought from different corners of the country and the world.
Apart from providing a visual treat to the visitors, the show will exhibit rare carnivorous plants like fly traps and other such varieties that are known for killing insects, including mosquitoes.
Environment enthusiasts visiting the show will also be able to interact with the farmers, who have been cultivating multiple species of flowers and roses for years. In addition to this, the exhibition will also include workshops for visitors on honing their skills at miniature gardening, terrariums gardening and making their own bonsai.
The release said MIAL is deeply committed towards spreading the message of positive environmental protection and assiduously follows its philosophy of sustainable living.
The Botanical Garden, spread across an area of 90,000 sq m around the airport premises, was created to encourage the engagement of the community with the environment. The garden has around 77,000 plants and more than 100 species, the release added.
