Jordan, 30, will portray Math teacher Damany Lewis with Coogler directing the movie, set up with New Regency Productions and Brad Pitt's Plan B, reported Variety.
The actor-director duo has worked together in "Fruitvale Station", "Creed" and the upcoming "Black Panther".
The movie, based on Rachel Aviv's 2014 New Yorker story of the same name, focuses on the 2006 standardised test cheating scandal at Atlanta public schools in Georgia.
