Microsoft India today partnered Rotary International District 3010 to offer technology training to over 150,000 students and 7,500 teachers across 150 schools in the Delhi-NCR region.
The training, to be provided under 'Microsoft IT Academy Program', is designed for teachers to help them train students on high quality technology training resources.
Microsoft will provide the resources including online learning content, course materials, learning management system and instructor tools.
The curricula spans computer basics to high-level programming including Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio and other application development tools.
Rotary, on the other hand, will sponsor these schools (both government and private).
"Providing Indian youth with 21st century skills and knowledge is critical in today's connected world. This collaboration is a step in providing these skills to 150,000 school students in Delhi through the Microsoft IT Academy Program," Microsoft India Managing Director Karan Bajwa told PTI.
According to industry estimates, 50 per cent of today's jobs require some degree of technology skills and this will increase to 77 per cent in the next decade.
"We are committed to partnering with governments, academic institutions and not-for-profit organisations to enable Indian youth through our education focused programmes," he said.
