"A group of ministers are on a tour of non-Congress states to find out how they are probably 'not functioning' like the Union government as though that is an ideal. I am being absolutely sarcastic as it is outrageous," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.

A Group of Ministers led by Home Minister P Chidambaram and which included Law Minister Salman Khurshid and Minister of State in PMO V Narayansamy, have visited Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and other states.

Raising objections to such visits, the BJP said the Union Cabinet should first attend to the important questions being raised about its performance before judging the non-Congress ruled states.

"When they have not answered questions on who is responsible for the 2G spectrum scam, Commonwealth Games and the Shunglu Committee report, or the ISRO-Dewas deal, the Adarsh scam on which you find three former chief ministers alloting flats left, right and centre to their relatives," Sitharaman said.

She maintained that questions have been raised in Parliament about the loss making decisions taken by the UPA government but no satisfactory answers have been given.

The BJP was especially miffed that the team had visited Narendra Modi-ruled Gujarat and insisted that the state stands out in comparison to neighbouring Maharashtra where Congress is in power.

"They are in Gujarat today. They should look at neighbouring Maharashtra, where flats have been alloted to relatives of former Chief Ministers in the Adarsh scam, farmers are committing suicide, and scandals are coming out where (Congress) government's failures being observed," Sitharaman said.
