A day after five people were arrested for allegedly slaughtering a cow in South Tripura district, the Viswa Hindu Parishad on Friday claimed that several migrant workers from Assam and Bangladesh are working in Sabroom and indulge in various anti-social activities.
The Hindutva organization on Friday met Sabroom Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Biplab Das and submitted a memorandum saying these workers were employed in brick fields in the area.
VHPs South Tripura district president Biplab Sen claimed in the memorandum that the migrant workers are involved in Love Jihad, cow slaughter, theft and other anti-social activities.
"We want the administration to take stock of the situation and publish a list of photo identity cards for all workers who are engaged on contract basis at these brick fields so that no incident of communal flare up happens, Sen wrote in the memorandum.
A group of VHP and Bajrang Dal supporters took out a rally in Sabroom sub-divisional town before the deputation was submitted.
Shortly afterwards, the SDM issued a letter to Labour Inspector at Sabroom and asked the officer to arrange identity cards for the labourers who are engaged in brick fields.
On Thursday, five migrant labourers from Assam were arrested for slaughtering a cow and later released by a local court on bail.
