As many as nine persons having links with Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) have been arrested in Assam in the past one month, a top state police officer said today while admitting that militant outfits are recruiting "Jihadis" in the state.
Assam Director General of Police Khagen Sarma said,"There are Jihad training centres in West Bengal, Bangladesh and UK and gatherings are also noticed in Assam."
"Persons trained in Jihad have been recruited by militant outfits in Assam and so far nine persons are arrested in this connection over the past one month," he said.
"Jihad is a global issue. All extremist outfits come into linkage whenever their interests are served and use each other's resources," the DGP told reporters here.
"Through logistics their modules are created and they can bring in people from outside," Sarma said.
The October 2, Burdwan blast in West Bengal had blown the lid off the militant network in the region.
