Militants attack police officer

Assistant Sub-Inspector Reyaz Ahmad was fired upon by unidentified militants outside his residence in Pulwama town, 32 kms from here, late yesterday, a police spokesman said.

He said the officer escaped unhurt in the firing. The spokesman said the militants fired two pistol rounds to target the officer and escaped from the scene immediately taking advantage of darkness.

A case has been registered and a hunt has been launched to nab the militants, the spokesman added.
