A girls' school in Pakistan has been blown up by militants in the country's volatile northwest tribal region, officials said today.
The unidentified militants attacked the government girls' primary school with explosives last night in Hakim Khan Keley village in the Bara area of Khyber district.
An official confirmed that the school was attacked. "All rooms and boundary walls of the school were destroyed," he said.
The school was closed at the time of explosion. No casualty has been reported yet. The attackers fled the scene following the incident.
The residents of the villagers had already left when army launched Khyber-1 operation in the area earlier this month, officials said.
So far no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but officials believe banned Lashkar-e-Islam militant group for the attack.
