Suspected ultras shot at a Chowkidar and his son forcing angry villagers to torch their motorcycles at Chando in Palamau district, police said today.
The incident occurred when a group of ultras belonging to 'Jharkhand Janmukti Parishad' came to the village and dragged the chowkidar Munish Ansari and his son Ladle Hassan out of their house, Superintendent of Police Mayur Patel said.
The villagers assembled on the spot on hearing the screams of Ansari and his son, who were being assaulted by the ultras and opened fire before making a hasty retreat, he said adding that while Ansari sustained injury in the right hand, Hassan received bullet injury in the thigh.
While fleeing, the ultras left behind two motorcycles, which the villagers torched, he said.
