Military officials from India and China today held a Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) during which both sides committed themselves towards enhancing the existing cordial relations, and maintaining peace and tranquility along the Line of Actual Control.
The Chinese hosted the BPM, opposite Bum La in Arunachal Pradesh, in which Brigadier D S Kushwah, Commander of Tawang Brigade, led the Indian delegation while Colonel Tang Fu Cheng, Commander of TsonaDzong Garrison, led the Chinese side, defence sources said here.
The Indian delegation crossed the international border for the meeting marked by unfurling of the national flags of both the countries followed by formal address by the leaders of the two sides.
Both delegations interacted with each other in a congenial and friendly environment and parted amidst feelings of commitment towards enhancing the existing cordial relations and maintaining peace and tranquility along the Line of Actual Control, the sources said.
Both sides also sought to build on the mutual feeling to uphold the treaties and agreements signed between the governments of the two sides to maintain peace and tranquility along the LAC, they said.
Early this week GOC-in-C Eastern command along with GOC 4 Crops had visited the bordering Bum La pass and took stock of the border situation.
