The Lt Governor has approved of the project, an official release said today.
It said the total cost of the project would be Rs 3.34 crore, of which Rs 2.5 crore was available from the Central government through the RKVY scheme. The balance of Rs 84 lakh would be contributed by the plant from its general funds.
The project envisages procurement of marketable surplus of milk from dairy farmers to meet rising demand in the Union Territory, balancing of milk protein intake and maximising returns to milk producers or dairy farmers by value addition of their products.
