Mineral production in June up 4.3 pc; valued at Rs 17,615 cr

Country's mineral production rose by 4.3 per cent in June as compared to the corresponding month last fiscal and was valued at Rs 17,615 crore.
"The index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector for the month of June 2014 at 121.5, was 4.3 per cent higher as compared to June 2013.
"The cumulative growth for the period April-June 2014-15 over the corresponding period of previous year stands at 3.2 per cent," an official statement said.
It said the total value of mineral production (excluding atomic & minor minerals) in the country during June 2014 was Rs 17,615 crore.
The contribution of coal was the highest at Rs 5,882 crore followed by petroleum (crude) at Rs 5,706 crore, iron ore at Rs 2,360 crore, natural gas (utilised) at Rs 1,809 crore, lignite at Rs 490 crore and limestone at Rs 403 crore.
"These six minerals together contributed about 95 per cent of the total value of mineral production in June 2014," the statement said.
As far as output was concerned, coal production was recorded at 441 lakh tonnes, lignite at 43 lakh tonnes, petroleum crude at 31 lakh tonnes, iron ore at 117 lakh tonnes and natural gas (utilised) 2826 million cu.M.
The statement said gold production during the month stood at 131 kg while diamond output was at 3,916 carat.
