Mineral production up by 2.3% in Nov 2015

India's mineral production rose by 2.3 per cent in November last year compared to the year-ago period with the total value of the output crossing Rs 19.300 crore.
The index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector for November (new Series 2004-05=100) 2015 stood at 131.5, higher by 2.3 per cent compared to November 2014, the data released by Mines Ministry showed.
The cumulative growth for the April-November period of 2015-16 fiscal rose by 2.1 per cent compared to the same period of last fiscal.
"The total value of mineral production (excluding atomic & minor minerals) in the country during November 2015 was Rs 19,381 crore," it said.
Coal contributed the highest at Rs 8,266 crore (43 per cent) followed by Petroleum (crude) Rs 5,525 crore, Natural gas (utilised) Rs 2,177 crore, Iron ore Rs 1,791 crore, Limestone Rs 463 crore and Lignite Rs 286 crore.
The six minerals together contributed about 95 per cent of the total value of mineral production in November 2015, the ministry said.

While 568 lakh tonnes of coal was produced in the country in November, Lignite production stood at 23 lakh tonnes.
India produced Natural gas (utilised) 2,632 million cubic meters, Petroleum (crude) 30 lakh tonnes, Bauxite 1,934 thousand tonnes, Copper conc. 12 thousand tonnes, Gold 102 kg, Iron ore 130 lakh tonnes, Lead conc. 20 thousand tonnes, Manganese ore 173 thousand tonnes, Zinc conc. 128 thousand tonnes, Limestone 231 lakh tonnes and Diamond 2,117 carat.
Production of Iron ore, Copper conc., Lead conc., Bauxite, Coal and Limestone rose during November 2015 compared to the same month in 2014 whereas that of Lignite, Diamond, Gold, Manganese, Zinc conc., Natural gas and Petroleum (crude) declined during the same period.
