Minimum temperature plummets in Punjab, Haryana

The minimum temperatures plummeted in most parts of Punjab and Haryana today with the mercury hovering up to two degrees Celsius below normal at a few places in the region.
The minimum temperatures remained between two degrees Celsius below normal to one notch above normal in Punjab and Haryana, bringing cold conditions again, the MeT Office said here.
Besides, some parts of Punjab and Haryana, including Chandigarh and Patiala received scattered rainfall.
While Chandigarh received 2.1 mm of rains, Patiala got 0.4 mm of rainfall.
Amritsar settled at a low of 8.4 degrees Celsius followed by 9.2 degrees Celsius at Hisar, two notches below normal.
Among other places, Karnal had a low of 9.4 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, followed by 10.6 degrees Celsius at Chandigarh, one notch above normal, 10.7 degrees Celsius each at Narnaul and Ludhiana, one notch each above normal, 11 degrees Celsius at Ambala, one notch above normal.
While Patiala had a low of 11.1 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal, the minimum temperature at Bhiwani was 12 degrees Celsius.
The MeT has forecast rise in day as well as night temperatures in the region during the next 24 hours.
