Minimum temps increase across north India

Minimum temperatures increased across north India even as rains and light snow were recorded in higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
It was a partly cloudy day in the national capital with the maximum temperature settling at 27.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average while the low was recorded at 13 degrees, two notches above normal.
In Kashmir, overnight rains at many places and light snowfall in Gulmarg led to an increase in minimum temperatures across the Valley and Ladakh region, with the mercury settling above the freezing point at most places.
Owing to overcast conditions, the night temperature settled at minus 3.6 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg which recorded 1.5 inches of snow.
Leh, in Ladakh region, shivered at minus 5.6 degrees Celsius, even though it was an increase of nearly seven degrees from the previous night's minus 13.3 degrees Celsius. Kargil town was the coldest place in the state with a minimum of minus 7.5 degrees Celsius.
Minimum temperatures rose across Punjab and Haryana with Chandigarh recording a low of 13.1 degress Celsius, four notches above normal.

The high altitude tribal areas and mountain passes experienced mild snowfall while the maximum temperatures rose to 26.6 and 26.2 degrees Celsius respectively at Sundernagar and Bhuntar.
The minimum temperatures also rose by a few notches with Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur districts recorded a low of minus 2.6 degrees and 0.6 degrees. Manali recorded 4.4 degrees Celsius.
