A mining company's fresh attempt to restart ore transportation after a three-year ban were scuttled today when three of their vehicles were allegedly stoned by private truck owners in Sanvordem village in South Goa today.
Sesa Iron Ore company had attempted to transport e-auctioned cargo from its Codli mining site this morning when three trucks, which were on its way to River Jetty, were 'attacked' in the village
"Three trucks were damaged, forcing us to stop the transport. We had actually begun the transportation," the company's Vice President (Communication) A Joshi.
He said the cargo was being transported to a jetty at Capxem near Sanvordem village in South Goa.
The company has been at loggerheads with truckers over the rate offered to transport the ore.
The All Goa Truck Owners association has refused to accept Rs eight per ton per kilometer rate offered to them by the company.

Sesa Goa had already announced that they might have to go for 'No work, no pay' for its workers if the crisis with the truckers continues.
Earlier on on December 4, the mining which had resumed in Goa after Supreme court lifted the ban was stopped after a truck was burnt near Sankhalim village.
State Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar's efforts to negotiate peace between the truckers and the company had failed. The Chief Minister had accused some political leaders of trying to intimidate the truckers and leading to the current crisis.
Meanwhile, the union leaders have warned Sesa Goa against 'No work, no pay' policy.
"We are not accepting the 'No work, no pay' policy. The workers are reporting for work regularly. If the company has any issue with the truckers, the workers should not be punished," All India Trade Union Congress leader Raju Mangeshkar said.
The mining in Goa was stopped in 2012 on Supreme Court's directives. It was resumed after a ban of three years.
