"The allegation is absolutely untrue. Had there been such a pressure, how is it that the treatment of Mollah is going on in the hospital?" Mitra asked.

"If there is any problem in that hospital, the CPI(M) leadership could have shifted their comrade to other hospital in the locality where the party has command," Mitra said.

The CPI(M) district leadership was actually trying to make ground work before the coming panchayat elections by creating confusion among the people, he claimed.

"As a people's representative I am writing a letter to the hospital authorities to seek details about the CPI(M) leaders who took the benefit of free-treatment from this hospital during the Left Front rule and how much the hospital authority had to spend for the purpose," Mitra said.

He claimed that some CPI(M) MLAs during the Left Front rule got free-treatment from the hospital and went on to claim reimbursement from the West Bengal Assembly.

Reacting to this, Leader of the Opposition Surjya Kanta Mishra questioned the authority of Mitra to write to the hospital authority on the issue.

"He is not the Health Minister. In what capacity Mitra is saying so?", Mishra wondered.
