"I will meet Chief Minister soon and request him to appoint state women's commission chief," Gaikwad said against the backdrop of incidence of rise in crime against women.
The post has been lying vacant for three years. The department had forwarded a proposal to the Chief Minister with three names for appointment to the post. However, the file got burnt in the June 21 Mantralaya inferno.
The file was reconstructed and is pending with the Chief Minister's office, sources said.
