The four ministers were Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, Power Minister Piyush Goel, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Ananth Kumar.
According to sources, they have discussed about the framework and modalities for the proposed regulator which would monitor compliance of green laws in the country.
The Union cabinet had asked these four ministers to look at the long-standing proposal for creation of a regulator and suggest the most viable structure.
Sources said that Supreme Court had asked the government to set up a environment regulator which would appraise projects, ensure implementation of conditions of environmental norms and impose penalties in case of violations.
However in what could further further delay the creation of the green regulator, some states have objected to the formation of the authority as well.
