Minor awarded Rs 3 lakh after being hit by car

A Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) here has awarded over Rs 3 lakh to the father of a toddler, who got injured after a car hit him while he was playing on a road, observing it was clear negligence on the part of the driver.
"Needless to say that while reversing the vehicle, specially on turning, the driver should be over cautious and which in the present case seem to be missing.
"It is a clear case of negligence on the part of the respondent," MACT Presiding Officer Naveen Arora said and directed Reliance General Insurance Company Ltd, the insurer of the offending vehicle, to pay a compensation of Rs 3,42,322 lakh to the father of the child.

According to the petition, the incident occurred on August 6, 2012 when Mohd. Anas was playing in front of his father's shop at Malviya Nagar here and a car reversed, without any warning, and hit him.
The tribunal held the driver guilty of the offence while noting that he did not reply to the allegations levelled against him.
