The 14-year-old girl, a student of Class VIII, had gone missing from her home on June 4. Later her parents approached the police for registration of a case, but they alleged that the policemen refused to file a case.
The parents of the girl, who returned home on October 16, then moved a court in Malout.
The girl alleged that three persons of her village kidnapped and tried to sell her to some people in Rajasthan and also charged the police with helping the kidnappers.
The victim's parents, who are migrant labourers, have alleged that "the girl was sold twice and was first taken to Rajasthan and thereafter to Bathinda where she was even gangraped."
The medical examination of the girl was done at Malout Civil hospital and report is awaited, police sources said.
Acting on the court's directions, Senior Superintendent of Police, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Surjit Singh last evening placed under suspension SHO, Gursewak Singh of Kabarawala police station on charge of negligence in the case.
