Iqra Nazir was playing outside her house when she accidentally fell into the Badroh stream in Handwara, 70 kms from here, last evening, a police spokesman said.
He said the body of the girl was fished out from the stream and handed over to her kins.
Intermittent rains lashed wide parts of Kashmir valley over the past couple of days, leading to rise in the water level in all water bodies including the main river Jhelum and its tributaries.
Meanwhile, the spokesman said heavy rains left 22 goats and a horse dead on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway last night.
