The incident occurred last evening when the girl had gone to a local bazaar where she met her sister-in-law, who was accompanied by five youths, police said.
The girl in her complaint has alleged that the youths, who live in her neighbourhood, took her in a car to some place and raped her last night, Kapurthala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajinder Singh said today.
Later on reaching home the girl narrated the ordeal to her parents who lodged a complaint with the police, following which the accused youths were booked, he said.
"We have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to further probe the case. Besides a SP rank officer, a DSP, SHO (women cell) will conduct an in-depth probe," he said.
