A 12-year-old girl was today killed after she was run over by a speeding truck near Geeta Gopal Chowk at Ambala Cantonment, police said.
Gunjan, a fifth standard student, was coming home from school in the afternoon when the mishap took place.
She died on the spot and the truck driver fled from the spot with the vehicle, they said.
Angered over the accident, people blocked the Ambala-Jagadhri road for one hour, demanding action against the guilty driver, police said.
The road was cleared after police officials assured the agitating people that the driver will be nabbed soon.
