The incident took place in Pathak Bigaha village last night as the accused man Tipu Alam entered the house of a minor girl and raped her, they said.
Upon hearing cries of the girl, the villagers overpowered Alam and beat him mercilessly before handing over to the police, they said.
Both the victim and the accused have been hospitalised, the sources said.
