A local court has directed the police to lodge an FIR against 11 persons including an SP and other police and health officials under the stringent POSCO Act for alleged dereliction of duty in a horrific case of gangrape of a four-year-old girl last month.
District and Session Judge Pawan N Chandra yesterday took cognisance of the complaint of petitioner Pratap Chouhan and ordered registration of FIR under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The court directed that 11 officials and employees including SP-Sikar Akhilesh Kumar, SHO Shankar Lal Thapa, Patrolling Circle Incharge Jagdish Prasad, and Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) S S Agarwal be booked for alleged carelessness and dereliction of duty, the petitioner said quoting the order which came yesterday.
The petition was in connection with the case of gangrape of four-year-old on the intervening night of September 10 and 11 at Kalyan circle near the railway station here.
The victim was sleeping with her mother and siblings on roadside when the accused abducted and gang-raped her. When the girl's mother, who used to sell glassware and had come here from Udaipurwati recently, could not find her, she raised an alarm.
Later, the girl was found in an injured condition in a heap of garbage. She was rushed to a local government hospital.
Later, she was referred to Jaipur's main children hospital.
An FIR was lodged under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and POCSO with Mahila Thana police. After five days, accused Pawan Vishnoi was arrested in Bikaner district.
