Choudhury is the only reptile expert in the newly formed expert committee of the board.
He told reporters here that he was proud to receive this honour and responsibility.
"I will get an opportunitty to do something for protection of the bio-diversity of north Bengal," Choudhury said.
The reptile expert said he has submitted to the board, a catalogue of the snakes that abound in Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Coochbehar districts of north Bengal.
The board works towards conservation and research of rare snakes, fish, insects and mites, trees and animals in the forests and rivers of the state.
