The Jammu and Kashmir government today directed fertiliser companies to stock adequate manure so as to meet the requirements of farmers which is expected to rise from next week.
"Be prepared to meet the demand of urea, Diammonium phosphate and Muriate of Potash in the valley, which is expected to rise by next week as soon as the weather condition improves," Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir told officials during a high level meeting convened to review the progress of availability of fertiliser in the state.
Minister of state for Agriculture, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi was also present in the meeting.
Mir said that presently there is no shortage of fertiliser in both the provinces but the department has to be ready to meet the demand of horticulture farmers in coming days.
The minister directed all fertiliser companies to dispatch their respective consignments to AGRO, JKFED, Cooperatives and other dealers at the earliest so that farmers do not face any problem in this regard.
