Delhi government today ordered an enquiry into shifting of students of a private school in south Delhi from their original building to a new location after the school management's decision to use the land for construction of an engineering college.
"The Delhi Education Directorate has ordered an enquiry into the Mirambika school issue and has asked the officials concerned to conduct an inspection of the school and submit a report on the issue," said a senior Delhi government official.
"Basically they will look into the land use of the area in question and will check if it was alloted by DDA for school or an engineering college," added the official.
Mirambika Free Progress School run by Sri Aurobindo Education Society is an experimental school up to class X which is recognised by Directorate of Education, Delhi government and the National Institute of Open Schooling.
The school founded in 1981 was being run in a building on the land adjacent to Aurobindo Ashram and Mothers International School, before it was shifted to the Ashram building.
Seeking anonymity, parents of Mirambika students said they were kept in dark regarding shifting of the school by the management.
Chairman of Aurobindo Ashram Pranjal Jauhar did not comment on the issue when contacted.
