The accused, Ramkrishna Mahato, a resident of Galudih Barrage colony under Galudih police station in Ghatsila sub-division, entered the post-office and tried to rob postman Pramod Kumar at gun point, said Senior Superintendent of Police, Anoop T Mathew.
Kumar resisted the move and raised an alarm, which alerted the traffic in-charge of Jugsalai police station Kuldeep Kumar and three constables passing through the area, he said.
Mathew said the police caught Mahato later on from a house on Dispensary Road, where he had hidden.
