Miscreants snatch Rs 2 lakh from petrol pump employee

The seriously injured employee, identified as Prasanta Kumar Lenka (40) has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, police said.

According to police, Lenka was waiting for a bus at local bus stop to go Cuttack to deposit money of Rs 2 lakh in a bank there around 10 am today.

Six motorcycle-borne unidentified miscreants threatened him with revolver and knife. They then snatched the bag containing cash of Rs 2 lakh after attacking and injuring Lenka seriously, police said.

Being informed police rushed the victim to the local government hospital and later shifted him to SCB Medical College and hospital in Cuttack, they said.

Barachana police have started investigation. Police have also sealed off all the exit points and started combing operation.

"We are on the look out for the miscreants who stole the cash from the petrol pump employee. We will arrest the accused soon," said Prasanta Kumar Majhi, inspector-in-charge of Barachana police station.

Six miscreants had robbed a businessman of Rs 70,000 cash and took his motor cycle away on NH-5 near Kuakhia in Jajpur district yesterday.
